Leeds Guide:
Situated on the banks of the River Aire in West Yorkshire, Leeds is one of the best loved cities in the north of England and it isn't hard to see why. Offering culture and heritage at every corner, it has also managed to move with the times and is now one of the fastest growing cities outside of London.
According to latest figures, it is also one of the country's biggest urban centres with a population of nearly three quarters of a million people, meaning in terms of aspirations and prospects, it really is at the top of its game. It has also risen from relatively humble roots to become one of the country's biggest commercial and transport hubs too - it has impressive road and rail networks and has many services running to the capital - making it an ideal base for commuters. Known as the gateway to Yorkshire, Leeds really does have it all.
From lush green open spaces, to great shopping facilities, the city is vibrant, energetic and extremely cosmopolitan. It also has the title of being the UK's main centre for financial and legal services outside London - so in terms of economic growth and prospects, is also highly regarded.
For the sporting fans amongst you, many will know Leeds as also being the home to one of the country's best known football teams, Leeds United. They play at Elland road and for anyone visiting the city; a trip to the stadium is an absolute must. No mention of Leeds however, would be complete without highlighting what the city offers students. It has two highly regarded universities as well as a vibrant and vivacious nightlife, so for young people who want a taste of an edgy and flourishing city that offers fantastic opportunities, Leeds really is the place to be. In terms of atmosphere, although it still has plenty of Yorkshire charm and tradition still peppered around its centre and surrounding areas, it is also a place that oozes culture and vibrant urban appeal which means visitors to the city will certainly reap the rewards of its diversity and variety.
In complete contrast however, once you have sampled all that the city centre has to offer, Leeds is also in the ideal location to make the most of some of the best scenery in the country. Only 20 miles from the Yorkshire Dales National Park, it is a great base to see sublime landscapes as the Dales boast delightful views as well as many fine country pubs and residences. It's complete variation and is what makes Leeds so impressive.
